Cottage Country and Algonquin Park has a long history of attracting visitors because of their beauty and great offerings of outdoor adventure. It doesn’t matter if it’s Spring, Summer, Fall or even Winter there seems to always be something to do and see. For over 50 years (since 1961) Algonquin Outfitters has embraced a love for the great outdoors in Algonquin Park and now with expanding to 12 stores in Muskoka and Haliburton also.
People seem to return year after year and even generation after generation seeking a chance to relax and enjoy life at a different pace than life in the city seems to offer. Many people hope to capture this lifestyle. Years ago it was Tom Thompson and the Group of Seven putting brush and paint to canvas, today many visitors bring along their camera and many adventures are planned around getting that perfect picture of the fall colours over a clear blue lake, or capturing that perfect moose or other wildlife photo, or even just the morning mist as the sunrises.
Algonquin Outfitters also has a long history of hosting photo contests. Now into their 14th photo contest, many years ago you used to have to mail them a photo, now it just takes a few simple clicks of your mouse or even an upload from your smart phone to share your experience and enter their photo contest.
