We just returned from Saugeen Springs RV Park late last night. It was AMAZING! The sites and privacy where we were (J Section) were comparable to some of the provincial parks near the GTA and even though it was on a river with no large body of water to swim in, it had a beautiful little sandy beach and a shallow inlet area with warm water where kids could swim and our son spent hours with the other kids playing there, catching frogs, crayfish, whatever. The river tubing was also sooooo fun – do yourself a favour and just pay the $20 to rent the proper tubes for a whole day. We started with a $20 dingy from Walmart and after the first run in it I was done with getting nailed by rocks jutting just under the surface. Also bring a paddle – makes a huge difference. They have a couple of fishing ponds, a petting zoo, a fantastic playground, shuffleboard, outdoor gym course, community fire pit with marshmallow roasting (fire pits on your sites too), wagon rides, a little hiking trail and swimming areas. There was so much to do and the seasonal as well as non-seasonal guests were all very friendly. The grounds were beautiful and well treed. I would highly recommend this park as an easy little “destination” park for families and we will definitely return. The ONLY negatives we found were having to pay for showers, the bags of wood we bought there were more like kindling versus full logs and the only flushable toilets were up at the front of the park – very far to walk, especially with little ones or when you really have to go (there were well-placed outhouses throughout – but no thanks!!). Otherwise it was a fantastic park and we’ll definitely go back!!!
